Cows

My friend/babysitter convinced me that we should dress up for customer appreciation day at Chick-Fil-A and get free lunch.

You may notice that a few of my children are missing.  Claudia was in Boston on a trip with our church, though she would have been all into it.  Aaron has his father's blood through and through.  Steve's perspective on dressing up as a cow: "I'll pay the $7 and get my chicken, thank you."  Aaron did not want to dress up so I gave him the option of hanging out with Grandma.  He chose grandma.

Taken

I have a love/hate relationship with my children snitching my camera and taking pictures without my knowing.

I'm not even sure who took these.  I love Greta and Josiah together on the bed.  They lay there and listen to books on CD from the library.

Totally caught in the act.  They know they are not supposed to do this, but often do anyway.  They climb up our headboard and jump off.

Trying

Making time to read to my little ones is such a challenge for me.  This summer I have been attempting to read Greta some of the American Girl stories.  I had Morgan capture this picture for me.  We are extremely inconsistent, but it's happening.

17 Years

This post is a little late.  The end of May Steve and I celebrated 17 years of marriage.  Crazy how the time has flown and all that has happened over the years.  I am so grateful for this man and the ways he has loved me.

Our anniversary was very low key this year.  We went for our first ride together on his bike, grilled steak and hung out on the deck.  Wound down the night by watching some Everybody Loves Raymond episodes and went to bed before nine o'clock.  You know you are getting old when that is a good evening.

Claudia snapped this before a recent wedding we attended

Goats and stuff

Friends of ours from church have a beautiful farm just down the road from us.  They went on vacation last week and our girls tended to their goats while they were gone.  One of the big perks of their property is the creek that runs through it.  I just couldn't keep my kids out of the water!!

Beach Day

Since the weather has warmed up I have been craving a day at the beach.  I had one scheduled with a friend and her kids but the weather got the best of us and we had to cancel.  Steve is out of town this week for a class and I decided last minute to pack up the kids and head down to Delaware.  I was grateful to have my friend Carissa along and very grateful for a sunny and "relaxing" day at the beach!!

I was really hoping to find a sitter for Josiah, not being sure of how high maintenance he would be.  Nothing panned out easily so I decided to just bring him along.  I am so happy that I did.  He just LOVED the water and the sand and was really no more work than any of the other kids.  At one point he ran to me and said, "Mom, dis "da beach???" I would answer, "Yeah bud, this is the beach!!"  He would respond, "Yeah!!" and then run to the water and then back to me and ask again if dis was 'da  beach. So cute.

When I head to Delaware I normally hit Towers Beach that is just past Rehobeth.  This time I was planning on trying a one that was a bit closer to home.  I never found Cape Henlopen but I have discovered my new favorite place.  Lewes Bay.  The shoreline was perfect for younger kids.  The waves were very small and they could go out really deep and it was only up to their knees.  It was not crowded at all.  Perfect day for us!!  I won't tell you about the screaming and fighting or almost hitting a deer on the way home.  That would ruin the perfect day.  We can pretend that part didn't happen...

Wish I would have noticed the party in the background before I took this shot!

I think I have this same picture of Morgan every year at the beach

This picture made us laugh.  Photo bombed by a seagull!

This sweet thing is dating Steve's brother, Jeremy.  It's so fun getting to know her!!

About 15 meltdowns happened while attempting this photo.  It was a good as it got.
