Friends

Aaron got invited to a play date this week and was sooooo excited.  Aaron has become friends with Owen.  What's even sweeter is that they are 4th cousins.  For all you Thomas's out there, he is the grandson of Gracie Redcay.  Her mom Tina and I go to church together.  We had become friends and imagine our surprise when we finally figured out we were related!  Love her!

Steve got Aaron a new bow on a recent trip to Cabela's.  It's the new fav around here.

This 4 year old theology made me laugh so hard.  On the way home from church today we were listening to a kid's CD that puts scripture to song.

Matthew 20: 26-27 "But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave..."

There is a line in the song that says, "If you want to be first you must be last.  It's upside down and hard to you, you should put others first before you."

Greta has listened to this song over and over but it must have struck a chord with her today.  With all the sassiness she would muster she yells up to me, "There is something NOT true about this song.  If you want to be first you must be last.  That is NOT true.  If you want to be first, you need to be in the front, NOT in the back!!"

Our Little Valentine

This little guy is the love doctor around here.  As we sing and say often, "Everyone loves the Jo."  He has brought much love and joy into our family.  Can't imagine not having him around.

Valentine's Day was a recovery day for us.  Everyone is slowly mending, some slower than others.  Hopefully the end is near!!

It was so nice and sunny today, I took little Josiah out for a few shots.  My sister in law, Miranda, got him this hat for Christmas and we just love it.  He wears it when we got out and gets so many compliments on it.

And yes, he has a split lip.  Poor little guy fell and smacked it open.  Yet another thing in the mend!

Rough Week

Wow, we have been hit hard by this stomach bug.  I guess it's really not harder than any other I've experienced, it just feels worse when it actually strikes ALL SEVEN members of your family!!  Poor little Greta, she's had it the worst.  I thought she was better today but she's had a rough evening with more stomach stuff.  She's finally asleep in bed with her daddy...let's hope for some rest for us all!!

Tonight I was starving after not eating for 2 days so I made meatloaf and potatoes.  I thought I would have more of a crowd for supper...but this was it.  Everyone else is still down.

These 2 are so cute.  They really and truly are the best of friends.  They played outside for hours this morning with Aaron's new bow and arrow.  Tonight they were the only 2 at the table and they sat there telling each other riddles, laughing with each other.  I love it.

Sick Days

I'm sitting here waiting for the next person to throw up or need new pants.  It's been a rough day around here.  The stomach bug has knocked out Josiah, Greta, and as about a half hour ago, Morgan.  We'll see who's next...

Josiah was sick on Saturday and is having a hard time returning to normal.  All he's eaten is crackers and a few bites of soup.  This picture was taken a few days ago when he was feeling good.  Poor little guy has also had a rash on his cheeks for a couple of weeks.

Reading Lunch

Certain children of mine are always trying to read at mealtime.  For numerous reasons, I insist that they put the book down.  After years of fighting this day after day, I finally came up with a solution.  One day a week, Friday lunch, we will have a "reading lunch."  Yesterday was our first.  This photo was not staged.  Lunch was sooooo peaceful and soooo quiet, I may need to rethink the frequency of this.
