"Take a picture of me, Mom."

He hardly ever says that.  He was pretty proud to be sitting on Uncle J's truck.

6 months

Had me some morning and evening light for this photo shoot.  Not sure which I like better.

Can hardly believe this little guy is halfway to one already.  Where is my baby going??

Perfect form

Making Pizza

Morgan recently took some shots while we were assembling pizzas for supper.  Blurry, but cute.
Greta touched the hot pan of meat.  Ouch.

Cheer up, girlie.

All better

Track and Field Day

Yesterday I took the kids to a track and field day.  Oh, it was so much fun!!  That was always my favorite day in school and I was so happy that my kids got the chance to experience it.  It was quite a hike, I went the whole way to Carlisle (about an hour and a half) but it was totally worth it.
A lady up there was been putting one on for homeschoolers for a number of years now.  Apparently it just keeps growing and growing.  I think about 300 kids participated this year.  She was telling me that people came the whole way from New Jersey!
This event was so well run and impressively organized.  Everything went off without a hitch and that was part of what made it so fun.  The kids were divided up by ages and they competed in the activities as a team.
I've got tons of pictures.  I am a terrible action photographer, but oh well.

Bike race: 1/2 mile

I'm such a terrible mother.  It didn't even occur to me to bring a helmet.  Morgan borrowed one from a boy on her team and she had to keep adjusting it.

This girl passed her at the very end and Morgan ended up with 3rd place

Aaron and his buddy for the day

Claudia at the start of her race.  Poor girl.  She rode Morgan's bike which is too small for her and she is not familiar with the gears on the bike.

Here she is hollering to me that the gears aren't working right.

In spite of her difficulties, she ended up with a 3 place

The mile: not Claudia's favorite event. :)  Proud of her for doing her best.

Morgan kicking it in for the 400.  Or maybe this was the 1/2 mile.  Can't remember.

The kids got popsicle breaks during the day

This was where Josiah hung out all day.  He did super.

Aaron during the 400, he's right in the middle.  Check out the girl in front, she won wearing sparkly red ballet flats.
Competition heating up

Shot put.  Aaron got 1st place in the javelin but I missed the pic of that.
Greta was too young to participate but she did great tagging along.  I think she enjoyed watching it all just as much as I did!

Long jump.  Morgan got first place here and said it was her favorite event.

100 meter dash, Aaron's right in the middle.  Is it just me, or does it look like there is some elbow action going on in this and the next photo?  Please ignore man on left with unfortunate running form.

I think after the elbowing, Aaron did some trash talking.  It was after this race that he told me he told the kid in the red hat, "You run like a baby!"  Oh dear.

Morgan, 4th place for something.

First place long jump award

Claudia 4th place: long jump

Morgan kicking it for the 100 (second from left)

Claudia 100

Aaron: 3rd place: 400.  Notice he is the only kid on the stand who refused to wear the crown.

They ended the day by having a fire truck spray them with water.  Such a great idea, the kids loved it.

This was such a fun day for me and the kids.  I was beyond wiped once we arrived home but it was worth it.  The kids all had a blast.
I asked them their favorites:
Claudia: team tug of war.  The 11 year old girls beat the boys!
Morgan: long jump
Aaron: running
I didn't ask Greta, but she would probably have said the popsicles!!

Update: I just asked Greta about her favorite part.  Her reply:  "Getting the pops!".  Mama knows her girl.!
