I'm not sure who likes the creek more, me or my kids. They have been begging to go but it has just not been warm enough. Today is in the 90s so it was a GOOD day for the creek!
We ventured to a new spot down the road from where we usually go.
Claudia is always the first in the water and the first to get her head wet. She did not disappoint today.

A Day in the Country
Today was the first Monday is a looooong time that Steve hasn't had work on the house to do that was super pressing. He was supposed to be making a pastor's car for tonight's shape-n-race, but somehow his saw blade caught the car wrong and it crushed it. Let's just say I was not the least bit sad that he didn't have to spend the day crafting a car. So... we went for a nice walk down the road to an old Mennonite church. The kids love the bike ride and the little playground there.
Before we left... Greta's new thing is to push Aaron on his bike. Too funny.
Wild poppies that grow along the road. They are gorgeous but almost done blooming.
Little Aaron rode his tricycle the whole way to and from the church. It was over a 2 mile ride. Pretty impressive for little legs and a little bike.
On the playground
After the playground, we took a little walk through their cemetery. I typically would not be drawn to walking around one, but my husband is a bit more historically minded and made it a fascinating lesson for us all.
Some of the graves were over 100 years old. This was one of the oldest I found.
Claudia taking it all in with dad.
Morgan was a bit stressed out that this gravestone had fallen so far into the ground. A funnier moment, she came running up to me and said, "Mom, I found brothers that were named John and Jacob. Wouldn't it be funny if their other brother was Jingle-heimer-schmidt??!"

Baby Drew
It was fun to have the cousins around last week. My brother's little guy is almost 6 months and a little tank.
For whatever reason I hardly got my camera out, just snapped a few shots of baby Drew.
Aaron just LOVED Dew, it was so cute to see them together. I think you can tell by the look on Drew's face that the feeling was mutual.

Out of the mouths...
Aaron was getting dressed this morning and pulled out a striped shirt and plaid shorts. I was telling him that it didn't match and that if he wanted to wear a striped shirt he needed to wear plain colored shorts.
He went to his room, came back to me and asked me where his airplane shorts were. I was puzzled, "You don't have airplane shorts, Aaron." He was insistent, "Yes mommy, the ones you said." Then I realized...plain shorts.

Adults Only
This weekend my brother and his family were in. We had the rare privilege of going out for supper with just the 6 of us adults. I don't think that has happened since my brother got married!! We had lots of fun eating and laughing together.

Good Form
Warning: The following photos are not for overprotective mothers or grandmothers.
We all got a good laugh out of these pics, thinking that Greta looked like an Olympic diver.

Concert
Sweet Claudia got to sing a little duet. Sorry these pics are a little far away, I didn't have a zoom lens and I didn't want to be a "stage mom" up front getting a shot of my kids!

The flip
As much as I love curly hair, with Steve and my hair, my girls don't really have a prayer for a curl (though I was hoping for one with curls from an Ostermann gene in there...) But every once in awhile we will get a flip. It's certainly to be celebrated. Greta had a good one going on the other day.
