Father's Day

I am very, very grateful to have married a man who loves being a dad and loves his kids.  They are very fortunate to have such a loving, thoughtful, godly man as their father.

And I am also very fortunate to have such a wonderful dad.  He is loving, kind, funny, and such an encouragement to me.  Love you, dad!

What?

Josiah loves his bath and especially loves to play in the tub once the water is all drained out.  He slips and slides and generally has a good old time.  The other day the tub was draining and I was doing something in the closet.  When I peeked to check on him this was how I found him.  No slipping or sliding or having a good time.  Just snuggling.  Doesn't exactly look comfy or snuggly to me!!

Unstoppable

Chad, I can NOT beat this kid at this crazy game.  I can't wait for a few more weeks so she can smear you too.

100 Meter Dash

So my sweet little competitive Greta...

I was excited to watch her run because she loves to run and we had been practicing the race for weeks.  As soon as the race started, I could tell she was trying to run a girl off the track.  I snapped a bunch of pictures and you can see it all unfolding frame by frame.  It's pretty funny.

Ironically, my dad was working at a job only a mile down the road from where we were and he came to see Greta run.  He was at the finish line and as we were talking after the race and I told him what she had done he said, "She didn't know what she was doing, did she?"  I was certain that she did.

So I go and ask her why she was running crooked, "Because that girl was fast and I didn't want her to beat me.  Smart kid.

The start of the race.  Greta is the second from the right in the pink skirt.  Not my finest photography but this was all my lens could handle.

Looking over, seeing her competition

You can see her starting to run at a diagonal,  keeping her eye on the blondie

At this point I started screaming at her that she was not allowed to run the girl off the track

Straightening out for a "fair" finish of the race

Concentrating hard

There's a bit of a smile

Track and Field Day

These pictures are over a month old and I recently realized they never made it onto the blog!  For the second year in a row I hauled my kids up to Carlisle (over an hour away) for a track and field day for homeschoolers.  It was a great day, an incredibly organized and well thought out event.

This was Greta's first year competing and she loved it.  She "tore it up", taking first place in most events.  Steve and I think she is our most competitive child.
The start of the 400, she is center left, ponytail and pink skirt.

Finishing strong.

Aaron on the right

Competitive, yes?

Aaron, on the stand on the left

Cheering on big sis.  Sweet Claudia really does not enjoy running but gave it her  best and had a great run!

Javelin (pool noodle with a weighted end)

Morgan, center row, second from left

Morgan's favorite event

Aaron, very happy that a tour of the firetruck was part of the day
