Memorial Day

Last night as I downloaded my strawberry pictures I realized that I forgot about my Memorial Day photos. We had a very productive day around here. Steve had off so we got some yard work done and got our garden planted. Yeah!
My parents took the older 3 to a local parade in the morning and Grandma got away with giving Greta a little treat.

This is how you make a perfectly straight row. Dad says that garden won't grow as well if the rows aren't straight!

Seconds

We have the sweetest Amish neighbors. Tonight I was home alone with the 2 littles trying to quickly get them to bed. I had had a very long day, particularly with a certain 2 yr. old. I heard a knock on the door and saw the head of the little Amish girl who lives across the road. They are growing strawberries to sell for the first time this year and she brought me a HUGE bowl of their seconds. I was so tickled, it made my whole day. There is nothing like fresh strawberries, esp. when they are free!!

A certain 2 yr. old can easily melt a mama's heart, even after a long and trying day

A Day of Steals

Today was a great day of shopping for me. I am a serious bargain hunter and typically only buy things if they are on major clearance. It started off with a killer yard sale. I buy most of my kids clothes this way, it saves us a ton and allows me to get more that I would if I had to buy new. So this sale I hit today, she had very nice girls clothes and her price was fill a bag for $5. So I came away with 4 big bags of jeans, dresses, sweaters, shoes, shorts, etc. I got some really good stuff there. Then I hit one for Aaron, she had some nice play stuff and gave me all the shirts for 25 cents! (Maybe I looked really desperate lugging my kids to a yard sale).

Then tonight I headed over to the outlets, Gap has been sending these coupons for awhile now for a chance to win anywhere from $5-$500. I have always gotten a $5 and been happy with free socks or a shirt off clearance. Tonight I won $15!! So, it was my day to be "on"!!

Here are some more shots. After I gathered them I realized it's all cute shots of everyone with Afton- except for the one of Aaron lovin' his sissy.

Beautiful Photos

A few weeks ago when my brother and his family were in, we had 2 girls (Krista H. and Shannon O) from our church take some family shots for us. It is so fun to finally see their work, they got some great shots of all of us. I will post them over the next few days. I'll start with a few of just my big girls. I think this first shot is my favorite of all the photos.

Baby Bird

Claudia came running inside today with this sqwaking little bird that she found in the grass. She was enjoying some snuggle time with the bird before making a phone call to grandpa Thomas, the "bird whisperer", as we affectionately call him. He instructed us to put him back in the nest. Hope the cute little thing survived.
