Redone

For years we've known that the upstairs bathroom had a leak.  It sits above our dining room so we occasionally would see the fruits of the leak in the ceiling.  This summer it came to a head and Steve knew that work needed to be done.  The bathroom up there was quite small.  It was pretty hard for an adult to do a 360 in the shower up there!  The kids avoided the bathroom because of the leaky toilet and the confinement of the shower.

My genius of a husband came up with a plan to not only fix the leak but make the bathroom much bigger and better!  Late October started the project.  He busted into the boys room and used their closet to expand the bathroom.  It shrank the boys room a bit, costing them the space of a new closet. But definitely a good trade off. Since he ripped into that room, he decided to tear up their carpet as well.  My parents installed new carpet 14 years ago when we moved it but it was certainly showing its wear and tear.

Since we were tearing up the boys room carpet, Steve decided to do the same in the hall and Greta's room.  So a small toilet leak turned into a complete upstairs overhaul!!  My husband really and truly is Superman when it comes to these house projects.  He dives into them and doesn't stop until they're done.  And he does it all, the plumbing, the wiring, the painting, laying the floor, etc.

Unfortunately I do not have a lens that allows me to take a good wide angle of this room.  But this bathroom is about 300 times better than before. I eventually hope to get some decor.

This bathroom floor rocks.  It's ceramic tile that looks like wood planks.

Greta's bright and cheery room. New wood floor and fresh paint.  I eventually will get her an area rug for her space.

Boys room.  They had 2 old dressers and functioned well but took up too much space with the new layout.  I was so excited when my mom and dad literally got this dresser from their neighbor's trash!!  It works perfect for their needs and fits the room so much better.

Boys room.  Jojo has some mad decorating skills.  A tissue and a John Deere tractor.

I went with the same wall color in all the rooms upstairs.  It looks so different in each space because of the lighting.  It's very light creamy gray.
Greta and I found these pictures at a yard sale for $1.  They are so fun and cute in her new space.  I just painted the frames to give them an updated look.

I love the view from the boys room to Greta's room.  The wood floor is so clean and gives the house a totally different feel than the carpet.  This rug is super old, Steve and I got it in Morocco back in the late 90's.  He was pretty excited that the kids wanted it in the hallway!

Christmas morning

Christmas was different this year because it was on a Sunday.  We started the day by going to church (as a family!!!).  Steve and I have driven to church separately for about 9 years.  It was so fun to drive together.  After church we had a lunch of our appetizer leftovers while opening presents.  It was funny to me that my girls came home and put their jammies on.  Apparently presents need to be opened in pajamas.

Real life.

Christmas Eve

One of my favorite evenings with our family is Christmas Eve.  First we attend our church service.  This was a fun year to watch Greta and Aaron in the choir.  Greta has been waiting for years to join and was finally old enough!  We then return home for a late supper of fun appetizers.  My parents always come and we eat and sit around the table and enjoy our fire on the computer screen.  Hello 21st century...

I didn't take too many pics of the evening...

Pre-church.  When your waste is too skinny for size 5 and your 4's are too short.
