Sick

I've spent the last 2 days in bed trying to recover from a nasty stomach virus that hit me quite hard. The highlight of these days was reading what my sweet Morgan wrote for one of her online composition classes. She is writing about "heroes" and had to post the topic of who her hero paper is going to be about. Here is what she wrote...

My hero is MY MOM. And NO buts, no it ,And no ifs. reason #1: She helps me with anything. . . .#2: She helps me when i am down. #3: She cooks GOOD food. I love my mom.

Christmas Eve

Backing up just a few weeks, here we all are decked out for the Christmas Eve service.  We were happy to have my parents join us for the evening.  (And no, my walls are really not that freaky shade of yellow!!  Not sure what was going on with the lighting.)

Chilly girl

I am very behind on posting my pictures.  I haven't even done Christmas day yet!  This has been a crazy week, going back to school after a 2 week break has gotten the best of me.

One of the last days of our vacation I took the kids ice skating.  I don't even remember taking this picture, I think I was just testing my settings on my camera and must have snapped this.  I love her chilly expression.  I've been messing with the edit for 2 days now and still am not content with it. Oh someone, please teach me how to better edit my b&w's!!!

Duet

Our dear Morgan got a special duet at church for Christmas.  She even got to sing it with one of her best friends, Faith.  It was so sweet to hear them singing together.  I wish I could have made that moment last longer than it did.  On a total side note, she is wearing the strand of pearls that I wore in my wedding!!  I thought they were adorable on her.
Thanks, Geoff Sensenig, for this picture.

Correction

If any of you read my previous post earlier in the day, I had a significant typo that I thought would be helpful to correct.  I said that I weighed 30-40 lbs. more in Jr. High than I do now.  That was supposed to be the other way around.  I weigh much more now than I did then.  Oops!  Thankfully I have a husband who actually reads what I put on the web.  Onto something a little more interesting...

We had a wonderful Christmas vacation as a family.  It's funny how going into the vacation I have all these hopes and expectations of what I think I will accomplish over that time.  You think I would learn.  Thankfully my husband is much more on the ball than I am.  He worked hard and got Aaron's new room finished upstairs!  It is so fun to see him be in his big boy room.  I am loving it, it was really fun to put together. Greta was pretty sad to be separated from him (they have shared a room up until this point), but she's doing ok now.  I have a few more finishing touches to put on the decorating and then I will post some pics.
Aaron is super excited about his room.  He is very into keeping it clean and making his bed.  Every morning without me asking, he brings down his laundry basket for me, announcing how much of a big helper he is.  He's growing up before me eyes.

Here is a shot of him the first night he slept in his new bed.  Can you see the excitement in his eyes??

Blast from the Past

Unfortunately for me, my mom has been in a purging mood.  She has been delivering bins of all kinds of things: elementary school report cards, my old clarinet, sports ribbons, art folders, etc.  It's been fun to see all my old stuff, but the funniest moment came on Sunday with the removal of my last bin.  Mom, this post is only b.c I know you will think this is hilarious.

DRESSES.  I had a bin of HORRID dresses.  The sweet thing is, they were all made by my mom except #2 and #5.  View these at your own risk:

Sadly, this is the most current dress.  I think my mom made it for me for my first YWAM outreach.  If nothing else, at least I was modest.  I think I could have turned it into a maternity dress.

This was my high school Campus Chorale dress.  We had to wear these to every concert and performance.  We all hated these, thinking they looked like they were made from curtains.

This was my dress from my senior year of high school.  Since Mennonites don't dance (at least in the 90's they didn't) we had a Jr./Sr. banquet, not a prom.  So, Jr./Sr. banquet dress.

Notice the lace trim.  Stunning, eh?

Can't see it in the shot, but the most redeeming part of this dress was the mermaid-ish kick thing coming out the back at the bottom.

Why these next 2 dresses fits me, I have no clue.  I wore them in 7th and 8th grade and know for a fact that I am at least 30-40 lbs. heavier now than I was then.  This was my homemade Jessica McKlintock knockoff.

Again, Jr. High.

All I can say is SHOULDER PADS.

Check out the bow in the back.

Probably the least offensive from a fashion standpoint.  Unfortunately, I ruined it by wearing cream nylons with it. Was I the only one who wore cream nylons with everything in the 90's?  Funny thing is, I broke the dress code to the Jr/Sr. with this number.  My shoulders weren't covered so I had to wear my date's coat all night.
