Out West 2017: Grand Canyon Day 2
Day 2 was much more enjoyable as we took a hike in the woods surrounding the canyon. We hiked and hiked and were rewarded with a gorgeous views.

Out of the Mouths...
Wasting time at the supper table and struggling to finish his baked potato, Josiah says, "Mom, I am NOT eating my skin because well...I don't want hair on my abs."
Out West 2017: Grand Canyon
We headed from NM into Arizona for a few nights stay at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Steve's brother Shawn and his daughter Alana drove from California to join us for this part of the trip. It was fun to share this time with them.
We rented a house about an hour north of the canyon. The drive to and from the National Park were beautiful. Walking into the park was exciting. There was much anticipation and excitement over the first view of the canyon.
I have to say even though the views are simply breathtaking, this was not my favorite stop. I am not a fearful mom, one who who keeps my kids from heights or dirt or eating food that has fallen on the floor. But take me and my kids to the Grand Canyon with minimal ledges...oh my. It was scarier than I could have anticipated. There were also lots of people on the ledges and viewing trails so we had to navigate around them and take turns for views.
The Grand Canyon...my pictures don't even start to give justice to the grandeur.

Out West 2017: Four Corners
Our drive into Arizona allowed us to make a stop at the Four Corners. Funny how you imagine a place in your mind before you get there...and then it's totally different.
Four corners in literally in the middle of nowhere, a complete 'destination' stop. It's a constructed monument that's surrounded by souvenir booths...and not a bargain visit for a family of 7!
Sweet Greta loved this stop. She still talks about it and loves her bracelet she got representing all 4 states.
